A healing habitat for all.

 

The Ask

Create a roadmap for the hospital of the future to navigate the evolving landscape and challenges of healthcare. Upon receiving a generous donation from a private donor to create a new hospital at UCSF’s Parnassus Heights campus, the UCSF health system asked Brand Bureau to help them envision the future of healthcare

The Solution

To focus on creating an environment that fostered wellness for all—physically and emotionally—within and beyond the hospital’s walls. Considering the complexity and lengthy lead time of the project, we took a deep dive into the healthcare landscape in order to truly understand both the challenges and potential for future innovation. Based on what we learned, we endeavored to create a concept for the design and experience that invited life in from beyond the hospital’s walls while encouraging growth and healthy living from within.

Audited the industry and identified the opportunity.

Because the industry was new to us, we took our time auditing the landscape and gaining a rich understanding of what “innovation” in the healthcare space looks like today.

We visited noteworthy national hospitals, we spoke to healthcare professionals that had been working within the health system for years, and conducted focus groups and workshops.

Developed a comprehensive experience and concept brief.

Working alongside interior designers, we set the foundation for the future experience developing signature experiences and experiential tenets that were then brought to life through mood boards and proprietary illustrations.
